Carrie Given,
Program Director of Horizon Prison Initiative at Ohio Reformatory for Women

I am honored and humbled to introduce myself as the Program Director of Horizon Prison Initiative at Ohio Reformatory for Women.

I have been in full-time ministry for over twenty-five years, serving in a variety of roles, including: youth pastor, missions pastor, missionary, formational prayer leader, and chaplain.

The Lord opened the prison doors and let me in 2022 to begin leading groups of women on a transformational healing journey to experience the Presence of Jesus in their pain, brokenness and wounds. As a volunteer at ORW for 2 years, I helped facilitate Healing Care groups, Celebrate Recovery groups, From Broken to Beloved groups and preached at Chapel services. Throughout this time, the Lord placed an ever-deepening love in my heart for the incarcerated individuals at ORW.

It was through this work that I felt called to work full-time at ORW. Then, the Lord led me to Horizon Prison Initiative. I have been serving as the Program Director at ORW since the end of 2024. I absolutely love the women! I am grateful for this opportunity to help them grow in their faith, to discover their value, worth, and dignity both as human beings and as children of God, and to convince them that they are worth fighting for.

It is my heart’s desire to see Horizon at ORW become a transformational community where the power of God and the power of true community transform not only each individual life, but also the population of ORW and beyond.

Finn Taylor,
Reentry Program Coordinator

I am absolutely blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with this wonderful organization. As a current Criminology student at Arizona State University, I found a love for wanting to work in the prison system to build and not break returning citizens.

As the Reentry Program Coordinator for Horizon at ORW, it is my goal to not only assist the women in finding resources, but to also prepare them for life outside of prison. I am constantly being encouraged and motivated by the women which makes this position more meaningful than ever.

I look forward to continuing to create bonds with the women at ORW and am looking forward to what the future holds!

Kamal M. Sahr Sr.,
Community Resource & Reentry Coordinator

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the Community Resource and Reentry Coordinator. In this role, I have the privilege of fostering connections, providing guidance, and working alongside each of you to build a brighter future. The strength of Horizon lies in its people, and together, we will create pathways to success.

Having navigated, and still navigating my own journey as a Judicially Impacted Citizen reintegrating into society, I deeply understand the obstacles and triumphs that come with rebuilding one’s life. My experiences have given me an unwavering commitment to service, a passion for advocacy, and a profound appreciation for resilience and community. I firmly believe that reintegration is not just about starting over—it is about moving forward with purpose, determination, and the right support.

What drives me in this work is the opportunity to stand beside individuals who are ready to take charge of their futures. I know firsthand that challenges do not define us—our perseverance does. It is my mission to help create an environment where everyone is valued, supported, and equipped with the tools to succeed. Horizon is more than a program; it is a collective movement toward empowerment and lasting change. I am incredibly excited to be part of this transformative journey, not only as a guide but as a fellow traveler. Together, we will foster a culture of accountability, strength, and continuous growth.

I am deeply committed to the individuals I serve and to the broader vision of Horizon. Success is not achieved in isolation—it is built through relationships, shared experiences, and a commitment to lifting one another up. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this mission, to learn from each of you, and to grow alongside this remarkable team and community.

Thank you for welcoming me into this space. I look forward to walking this path with you all and celebrating the progress we will make—together.
