Victims' Acknowledgement

In our work through Horizon we strive to fulfill our debt to those we have harmed. The victims of the crimes we have committed are numerous and varied: individuals, families, communities, even members of our own families. All of them victims of men acting out of our own victimhood, greed, and sense of entitlement. Our victims are on different parts of their healing paths and face untold challenges.

We, the men of Horizon, seek to further their healing by becoming the men our victims, families, and communities need us to be: men who are accountable and spiritual; men who embrace change, value community and serve others. We seek our victims' forgiveness through our actions as men transformed into the light of grace. We seek redemption by living actively and contributing to a community of healing. We seek redemption by taking that healing community out into the community of the prison and the world outside these fences. We cannot change what we have done, only who we are and how we choose to live our lives today and in the future. Our victims are bound to us, and we pray for you. [silent prayer for victims] Amen.
